This is a very scenic stretch, but mostly flat with only a few small rapids. The Wilge flows nicely almost without exception every summer, but water levels are still very unpredictable. Keep an eye open for crocodiles, and don’t miss the plenitude of birds.
- Ideal for: K1

There used to be an annual race on this section, but the take-out for the race is another 8km further down. This take-out is on a farm, where access has to be arranged and a very bad road has to be negotiated. This short stretch after the bridge, which actually forms part of the next section, adds a couple of class 2 to 3 rapids.
This river description is taken from my book “Run the Rivers of Southern Africa”.
